This is the first time I am seeing the class as I had to miss their initial lesson. I was involved in a training session on Service Excellence. Mr George Yam did the class for me.

The lesson today is done as a makeup. 1 May being a public holiday – i decided to do the makeup a day earlier. Class was good although we meet in a different lab. I did a slightly long lecture and had to set out my style of doing class. The students were active and a nice bunch. I think they will find the sessions useful and maybe be able to put together a useful bibliography of resources in their area of research.

Reflection on UIR 8 May 08

This is the third lesson and we were told to search for resources on personal and organizational sites. We also firmed up our topic – mine being – “Pedagogy for the Digital Curriculum”. I will be required to find various resources on the topic and collate it. In addition, I will have to evaluate the site.

On a teaching front, it was nice to talk to individual students on their topic and give them some ideas on what I thought of their areas of research. Some students choose topics that were really broad based while other choose very specific areas. Both of these are not ideal for research and i guess they will find that out soon.

The class was active and I think they will start understanding the value of the activity over time.

Learning to Blog on Web 2.0

I am writing to create a blog on how Web2.0 can be used in teaching. Some of the new tools are quite interesting in creating exciting lessons. The idea is to learn how to use the tools first. In doing so, explore how appropiate it is to incorporate lessons using these tool.

We are starting with Blog tool first. Using WordPress to do this. WordPress allows you to create static webpage as opposed to Blogger which place latest blogs first.
